Marina berths in Tunisia: prices and living aboard
Keeping a boat in Tunisia, or living aboard: the marinas’ published tariffs, what customs and the stay rules say, and what to check on site.

In brief
- A year’s berth for a 10 m boat costs 3,500 TND (Monastir, excluding tax) to 7,500 TND (Bizerte) on published tariffs, about €1,040 to €2,230.
- A foreign yacht can be used 180 days in any 365; time spent immobilised does not count.
- French and Italian citizens can stay up to three months without a visa, with a passport valid for at least three months.
Many owners keep their boat in Tunisia: French and Italians who live here, cruisers who winter here, crews who live aboard. This article brings together the marinas’ published tariffs and the official rules that matter.
It is published by YK Marine, the boatyard in the port of Tabarka. The tariffs come from the marinas’ own websites, with their year. They change: check with the marina before booking.
Berth prices for a 10 m boat
From the published tariffs, for a 10 m monohull:

High season runs from 1 May to 31 October in Gammarth, and from 1 May to 30 September in Yasmine Hammamet and Bizerte. Monastir has one tariff all year.
For a 12 m boat, a year costs 9,500 TND in Gammarth, 7,030 TND in Yasmine Hammamet and 4,200 TND excluding tax in Monastir. Multihulls pay 50 % more in Gammarth, Yasmine Hammamet and Bizerte, and 80 % more in Monastir.
In euros, at €1 ≈ 3.36 TND (Central Bank of Tunisia, 8 October 2026), a year for 10 m runs from about €1,040 in Monastir, excluding tax, to about €2,230 in Bizerte.
Water and electricity
They are often included in the daily rate, not always beyond it:
- Gammarth: included per day up to 10 m; metered electricity above that.
- Yasmine Hammamet: included per day under 16 m, and per month or year under 10 m.
- Bizerte: included per day up to 12 m, and per year up to 10 m.
- Monastir: charged per day by length, 5.50 TND for 10 m.
- Tabarka: 15 TND per day for water and electricity together.
Living aboard in Tunisia
No marina publishes a rule on living aboard. Monastir is the best known for it: a couple lived aboard there from June 2023 to May 2024 and describe it as a popular live-aboard destination, very full in winter (Noonsite, May 2024). Ask the marina before booking.
In Tabarka, you can stay aboard afloat, and on the hard while the yard works on the boat.
Foreign yachts: what customs says
From the Tunisian customs page on pleasure navigation:
- a foreign pleasure yacht can be used 180 days in any 365-day period;
- the owner can ask for the boat to be immobilised at the marina’s customs office; that time does not count towards the 180 days;
- this regime is for owners who live abroad more than six months a year;
- the boat may only be used privately: charter and commercial use are forbidden.
If you live in Tunisia more than six months a year, ask customs which regime applies to your boat.
Cruisers report that an immobilised yacht can stay up to two years without tax. We found no official text confirming it: check at the marina’s customs office.
Clearing in is done at a port of entry, such as Tabarka. We do the formalities with you: a 250 TND package, not including the APIP fees. See clearing in at Tabarka, step by step.
How long you can stay without a visa
- French citizens: no visa for a stay of up to three months (French Ministry of Foreign Affairs). Beyond that, a visa and a residence card are needed.
- Italian citizens: no visa for up to 90 days (Viaggiare Sicuri), then a residence permit.
- Since 1 January 2025, a passport valid for at least three months is required; an identity card alone is no longer enough.
Tunisia is outside the Schengen area: these days do not count towards the Schengen limit.
Looking after the boat here
A boat kept in Tunisia needs antifouling every year. In Tabarka, our 160 t travel hoist lifts boats from 6 to 35 m; see antifouling in Tunisia, cost and duration. In Bizerte, Gammarth, Sidi Bou Saïd and Hammamet, we work on board: see our service area.
